There is no sales tax on cremations.

By completing this form and submitting payment, I acknowledge that I have reviewed and agree to these acknowledgements, as required by the Federal Trade Commission, and these additional terms, and understand and agree that I will sign a statement indicating this in the next step.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to restrictions and precautions related to COVID-19, in certain circumstances additional transport fees beyond those listed here may be required.

Notes:
  1. Pickups from private homes require additional logistical support and personnel.
  2. Driver wait time, private homes $150/hr.
  3. A $5 disposition state permit fee is charged throughout New Jersey.
  4. Base and transportation surcharges include first 10 miles, plus $1.50/mile thereafter.
  5. Cremstar of NJ does not perform removals of decedents in excess of 400 lbs. If at time of pickup the decedent exceeds the declared weight, a surcharge of at least $200 will be assessed. If the customer refuses to pay this additional surcharge, Cremstar of NJ will not remove the decedent from the point of pickup, and a cancellation fee of $300 will be assessed.
  6. Customers have 30 days to pick up cremains. If you fail to do so in that time, we’ll email you a reminder that you have 30 more days to pick up the cremains. If you fail to pick up the cremains (or have them shipped or anonymously scattered) within that defined period, we will place them into storage. Note that you will need to pay a $50 storage retrieval fee and $100 for us to ship the cremains to you. If after one year, you have not retrieved the cremains, they will be scattered anonymously in one of our scattering gardens or at sea. Please be aware that if you requested the cremains be shipped to you, and then decide to pick them up instead, we will assess an additional $25 change order fee; i.e. we will only refund you $75 of the original $100 shipping fee. If you select "Scatter cremains", Cremstar of NJ and its third-party crematories are authorized to scatter the cremains at their discretion on your behalf. It is understood that after this scattering, the cremains cannot be recovered.
  7. In some cases, Cremstar of NJ may select an alternate crematory location, at its discretion and depending on individual circumstances. In such cases, and if you have chosen to pick up the cremated remains, you will be notified of the alternate pickup location.
  8. In the event decedent must be placed in a refrigerated unit while Cremstar's funeral director secures all the legal documentation required to perform the direct cremation, customer agrees to pay a storage fee of $50/night, beginning on the evening of the third business day following the initial removal, exclusive of weekends and holidays.
  9. In the event that a customer changes their order, requiring a refund to the customer, customer agrees to pay the transaction charge associated with the refund at a rate of 2.9% + 30 cents, plus a restocking/change order fee of $75. If the change in order results in an incremental increase in gross sales to Cremstar, the restocking/change order fee may be waived.
  10. In the event that the customer chooses to cancel their direct cremation, they agree to the following fees:
    • Cancellation Fee - $75.00 + Square Process Fee of 2.9% + 30 cents
    • If papers have been filed with the state - Cancellation Fee + $100.00 Filing Fee
    • If MTS* personnel have been dispatched - Cancellation Fee + $100 Filing Fee + MTS* Fee
    • Decedent in storage - Cancellation Fee + $100 Filing Fee + MTS* Fee + $50/day Storage Fee
