Additional Terms

1. In some cases, Cremstar of NJ may select an alternate crematory location, at its discretion and depending on individual circumstances. In such cases, and if you have chosen to pick up the cremated remains, you will be notified of the alternate pickup location.
2. Cremstar of NJ does not perform removals of decedents in excess of 400 lbs. If at time of pickup the decedent exceeds the declared weight, a surcharge of at least $200 will be assessed. If the customer refuses to pay this additional surcharge, Cremstar of NJ will not remove the decedent from the point of pickup, and a cancellation fee of $300 will be assessed.
3. By submitting payment and authorizing release of remains, you are indicating that the person has already died and is available for pickup from the facility or residence indicated, and understand that Cremstar of NJ will dispatch transport personnel based on this information. If, upon arrival of transport personnel, it is found that the person is not yet deceased, or the decedent is not available to be picked up for any other reason (including, but not limited to, an alternate service having already picked up the deceased, a legal dispute between those claiming authority over the decedent, or intervention of law enforcement) Cremstar of NJ will not remove the decedent from the point of pickup, and a cancellation fee of $300 will be assessed.
4. Customers have 30 days to pick up cremains. If you fail to do so in that time, we’ll email you a reminder that you have 30 more days to pick up the cremains. If you fail to pick up the cremains (or have them shipped or anonymously scattered) within that defined period, we will place them into storage. Note that you will need to pay a $50 storage retrieval fee and $100 for us to ship the cremains to you. If after one year, you have not retrieved the cremains, they will be scattered anonymously in one of our scattering gardens or at sea. Please be aware that if you requested the cremains be shipped to you, and then decide to pick them up instead, we will assess an additional $25 change order fee; i.e. we will only refund you $75 of the original $100 shipping fee. If you select "Scatter cremains", Cremstar of NJ and its third-party crematories are authorized to scatter the cremains at their discretion on your behalf. It is understood that after this scattering, the cremains cannot be recovered.
5. Customer understands that Cremstar of NJ is not responsible for any jewelry or other personal items left upon the decedent at time of death, and shall hold harmless Cremstar of NJ for the disposition of any such items.
6. Cremstar's funeral director will file the death certificate based on information provided via our online forms. If any information is missing or incorrect as provided, correcting the filing will incur additional costs and delays in receiving the death certificate.
7. In the event that the customer chooses to cancel their direct cremation, they agree to the following fees:
   • Cancellation Fee - $75.00 + Square Process Fee of 2.9% + 30 cents
   • If papers have been filed with the state - Cancellation Fee + $100.00 Filing Fee
   • If MTS* personnel have been dispatched - Cancellation Fee + $100 Filing Fee + MTS* Fee
   • Decedent in storage - Cancellation Fee + $100 Filing Fee + MTS* Fee + $50/day Storage Fee
